Support

Expression of support for our campaign was extensive. Architectural heritage conservation is gaining support everywhere and will become increasingly relevent in building disposal decisions across the province and country. It is with great pride that the people involved in the SOS-églises campaign have contributed to this development.

The list of non SOS-églises people and organizations that have supported the efforts to save the two churches include:

The Architectural Conservancy of Ontario, provincial office and Essex-Windsor branch;

L'Association canadienne-française de l'Ontario (provincial and regional), for its support and financial assistance;

Dyane Adam, the Commissioner of Official Languages of Canada;

Heritage-Canada

Le Regroupement des organismes du patrimoine franco-ontarien; Victoria Beaulieu, who as council member championed the cause of heritage conservation in Lakeshore during her term of office;

The Ministry of Culture of Ontario;

The Federal Court Challenges Program;

The Office of Francophone affairs, of the Government of Ontario;

The Regroupement des organismes sur le patrimoine franco-ontarien;

The Honorable Eugene Whelan;

Senator Jean-Robert Gauthier;

Christopher Borgal, architect

Christopher Knowles, lawyer, who is acting pro bono for SOS-églises;

Le Club de l'âge d'or of Pointe-aux-Roches who sheltered our meetings.

Suzanne Gouchie who developped and maintained SOS-églises's first website until she moved away from the region.

Publications that have helped us disseminate information across the province and country;

Local businesses who have helped us in photocopying various materials...

Arbell LeCunff provided SOS-églises with wonderful aerial photos of the two villages and churches to help in our campaign.

In addition to this support, many people and organizations have expressed their support for the conservation of the two churches through various other means: signing of petitions, letters to the municipality, participation at rallies, letters to the editor, etc

There was also financial support. $50 000 were raised locally and provincially during the judicial phase of the campaign. It is always perilous to make lists of contributors. It never fails that certain very deserving people and organizations are left out inadvertently. If you are such a "victim", kindly forgive the slight. This site is still at an early development draft stage, and our goal at the moment is to quickly fill it with as much information as we can. Which exposes us to oversights.

The fine tuning and filling of the gaps will come at the next stage when every effort will be made to come as close to perfection as possible!
